Health-Related Fitness

Physical education requires students to be physically active. Students are taught the right way of being physically active by the use of developing skills which can lead to students understanding health related fitness.

For students to understand health-related fitness there needs to be a clear understanding of what is required of the students. Students should be expected to not only participate to their full potential, but set clear goals for them to accomplish. Through the school year, students will be able to monitor themselves to see how they have progressed, and what they can do to keep progressing. Students should also be aware that the environment is to a positive one so that they can all enjoy being able to feel socially and emotionally comfortable.

Strategies should include the following:

  • Self evaluations throughout the year to see what they can do to progress
  • The teacher completes an evaluation on how the student is doing in each of the different sport elements which can give students feedback on what they need to improve on.
  • Students continually write in a journal as a means of communication with themselves and the teacher as a way to see how they are improving mentally in the given tasks.
